APIO, WIN & NEDC Joint National Training
August 6th, 2015 - Asian Pacific Islander Organization (APIO), Women in NRCS (WIN) & the National Employee Development Center (NEDC) Joint National Training
Joint National Training with NEDC, APIO, and WIN – This is a training program for NRCS employees on outreach to AAPI and Women landowners in conservation program delivery and on how to manage a special emphasis program in order to support a diverse presence in the NRCS workforce. This year’s training program will be held August 6, 2015, in St. Louis, MO. Three separate tracks will be offered.
The National Training Program is designed to educate NRCS employees and other attendees on multiple aspects of working successfully with diverse clients and increasing the diversity in the NRCS workforce. Approved participants will register for one of three concurrent training courses on August 6, 2015 (see attachment D in the National Bulletin for instructions on registering in AgLearn):
1. Special Emphasis Program Manager (SEPM) Training, Aglearn ID - NRCS-NEDC-000319.
2. Working Effectively with Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Producers, Aglearn ID - NRCSNEDC-000320.
3. Women caring for the Land: Improving Conservation Outreach to Female Landowners and Producers, AgLearn ID - NRCS-NEDC-000321.
Employees who are attending the APIO-WIN Leadership Meeting from August 7-8, 2015, must register in AgLearn using the course ID NRCS-NEDC-000322.
To attend the National Training Program, the employee must meet at least one of the following criteria:
providing or fulfilling a documented training need; Special Emphasis Program Manager (SEPM) or Civil Rights Advisory Committee Member; or Outreach Coordinator or conduct outreach specifically for AAPI and/or women producers.
However, certain travel restrictions are in place, so meeting these criteria does not guarantee training and travel approval. Leadership will collectively consider training and travel requests from an agency attendance perspective.
